Counselling is often initiated when people have a desire to change, gain clarity, or improve their relationships with themselves, others, and the world. Self-development is a lifelong journey, and counselling is a valuable tool in that process. Collaboratively, I will help you set and achieve goals while acknowledging that change is not linear. The number of sessions required will vary based on the complexity of your goals as well as other determining factors.
I offer counselling services for both adults and young adults. My approach is trauma-informed, which means that I am aware of the possibility of trauma symptoms and understand the impact that trauma can have on a person’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being. I use Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy to help guide my therapeutic process and I incorporate other approaches like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and strength-based approaches. I am equipped with training in trauma processing tools such as Observed Experiential Integration (OEI) to better support clients with managing trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, and so on.
I believe that change is possible when you are in a safe and trusting environment, regardless of what you are going through. Contact me to schedule a Free 15-minute consultation and determine if I'm the right fit for your counselling needs.
I have had the pleasure of working alongside youth in various capacities for over a decade. Five of those years were spent as a frontline worker supporting at-risk youth struggling with addiction and other mental health issues. As part of a frontline team, I helped address the mental health, social, behavioural, and emotional needs of youth by providing them with individualized wraparound services. This unique opportunity allowed me to build strong relationships with other professionals in the community and expand my knowledge of outside resources available for youth.
My work with youth in this capacity is actually what led me to become a clinical counsellor where I have continued to provide therapeutic support to teens struggling with anxiety and stress, social anxiety, self-harming tendencies, trauma, self-esteem, school issues, life transitions, and coping skills. I am passionate about giving youth the space they need to feel safe enough to come as they are, express their personal needs, and work collaboratively to set therapeutic goals. Many teens have expressed to me their gratitude for having someone they can talk to who “gets it” and who “understands what I’m going through.” It’s important to help teens normalize their experiences and learn helpful coping tools to manage life’s stressors.
I also offer therapeutic support in the following areas for teens:

Individual Counselling
I am passionate about supporting first responders and front-line workers that have experienced a work-related crisis, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and/or burnout. I assist professionals in achieving work-life balance, creating preventative measures for managing stress, and managing trauma exposure responses. Establishing rapport with a therapist can help you manage stress and overwhelm. Building a strong foundation of safety and trust will enable you to access the support you need.
As a former frontline worker within the social service field and now as a trauma-informed therapist, my experience allows me not only to recognize the early signs of burnout but also to hold space for the unimaginably difficult experiences that frontline workers often face. My personal experience is also the source of my passion and drive to help others feel heard and understood, gain clarity, and access the tools they need to live well.
Supporting the Front-Lines Training and Workshops
Supporting the Front Lines is a training specifically for front-line workers to help reduce burnout, manage anxiety and stress, and prevent the long-term effects of trauma. This training is designed to inform how trauma and stress can impact the brain and the body, how particular forms of self-care and stress management are specifically geared to calm the nervous system and hardwire a sense of safety in the brain, as well as help individuals identify what strategies are most effective for their work environments. Broadening your understanding of self-care and knowing when to appropriately apply these tools will reduce the risk of long-term effects of PTSD on the job, will increase the effectiveness of how the staff support their clients and will help minimize staff retention. The goal of this training is to effectively equip individuals with practical ways of building resilience inside and outside of their jobs so that they can successfully operate in high-stress work environments.
Trainings and workshops can be specifically tailored for individual and group needs, contact me if you are looking for opportunities to support your team or staff in a safe yet effective way. You can email me; I would be happy to help!
Group learning environments bring like-minded professionals and individuals together so that they can feel connected and supported. Although past health restrictions have created barriers for in-person social engagements, they have also highlighted other platforms of learning that are convenient and efficient and can foster strong relationships. Some of the benefits of workshops include:
A more positive attitude towards learning
A deeper understanding of learned material
Opportunities for networking
Group processing and interaction – learning how to apply the material within one’s context and learning from one another’s experiences
Development of positive and supportive relationships between peers and colleagues
A better work ethic
My experience serving the community has inspired me to teach others about managing anxiety and stress, implementing self-care, and other mental health-related topics. Throughout my career as a therapist, I have facilitated multiple workshops and trainings to support parents, teachers, working professionals, and leaders across the country (virtually & in-person) in the following areas:
Leadership and burnout prevention training for senior management at bank unions
Trauma-informed care for front-line workers at group home agencies
Stress management, burnout prevention, and maintaining a healthy work culture for teachers
Managing Anxiety in children for parents and teachers
Navigating the unknown: Tools for managing anxiety at the Healthy Leaders Network Conference
Developing self-awareness as parents to cultivate secure attachments with children at Mom’s Connect through Peace Portal Alliance
