About Me
I believe that we all have the capacity to experience change and healing when we are seen as we are in a trusting environment. As a counsellor, I take a strength-based approach. This means that I believe that you, and every person, have access to the internal resources you need to care for yourself. I get the privilege of helping you discover your strengths so that you can build tools that will help you get unstuck. My hope is that you not only develop greater self-awareness, but that you truly feel heard, understood, and known.
I have a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#15194) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I provide counselling for youth and adults of all ages with a focus on trauma and anxiety disorders. I work primarily with first responders and other working professionals who have experienced a work-related crisis or trauma, PTSD, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and/or burnout.
In addition to private practice, I have had the privilege of working alongside other healthcare practitioners at a physiotherapy clinic. This has given me the opportunity to support clients through a holistic approach. I continue to help people learn vital coping skills as they navigate through life transitions, emotional exploration, anxiety and stress management, self-esteem, the effects of trauma, and grief or loss. With additional training in other trauma-informed therapies, I am well-equipped to support my clients to process their lived traumatic experiences, as well as foster post-traumatic growth.
My approach to therapy is also trauma-informed. This means that I recognize the potential presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledge the role that trauma may play in a person’s life physically, emotionally, and mentally. I use Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy to help guide my therapeutic process and I also implement components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Further, I have training in Life Span Integration and Observed Experiential Integration (OEI).
On a personal note...
I am a wife and mother of two children. Most of our days as a family are spent outdoors because the kids live for that fresh air and adventure. I fall somewhere between introvert and extrovert; I need my alone time to recharge but I also really enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. My purpose and strength are grounded in my faith, I am the most mindful when I’m doing a puzzle, and I am the happiest when I am with the people I love and eating chocolate.
